dc.description.abstract This study was aimed to assess factors affecting primary school teacher motivation to job in Kurmuk Woreda specifically, the study sought to examine the intrinsic and extrinsic factors of motivation of teachers. Descriptive survey research design especially, explanatory sequential mixed method approach was employed in carrying out the study. Both probability (random, comprehensive & lottery) and non-probability (purposive) sampling were used to select respondents. From 172 a total of 121 individuals participated in the study. Among them, 106 teachers were included as samples through random sampling technique. Additionally, 11primary school principals and 2cluster supervisors by comprehensive sampling and 2 Woreda education office coordinators were included through purposive sampling technique. Questionnaires and interview, and documents were used to get pertinent information for quantitative and qualitative data respectively. Pilot test for questionnaire was done by this its Cronbach’s alpha was 0.903 .The analysis of the quantitative data was carried out by using one sample t test whereas, narration was used for qualitative data. The finding indicated all intrinsic factors except promotion and extrinsic factors- p value less than 0.05.It conclude that teachers were de motivated by intrinsically by lack of recognition, low school performance and achievement and lack of training. The extrinsic factors affect teacher motivation were ineffective leadership style of principals and supervision, low salary and incentives and rewards, lack of interpersonal and social relationship, un comfortable working conditions and problem of organization policy and autonomy. It was recommended that all concerning bodies should search for different mechanisms by improve recognition, increase school performance and achievement, give training, change leadership style of principals and supervisors, increase salary and give Monterey and non monetary incentives create good interpersonal and social relationship, allocate budget to create good working conditions and revise school policy and give freedom to teachers in school autonomy. en_US
