Apparel manufacturing industries are trying to develop their current production system. In Sebrom Garment Company, sewing section faces the problem of fulfilling targeted production plan since there is no precise work distribution flow by the worker and material travels long distance from station to station. The objective of this study is to improve the sewing section efficiency through capacity utilization of worker by using work study. The author conducted and collected primary and secondary data from case study firm. Research design is the overall plan for connecting the conceptual research problems to the empirical research. The gathering empirical data was quantitative and qualitative. The quantitative data was collected through direct observation of the production floor. The data focus on a production line sewing section. Qualitative data was conducted interviewing different management level such line supervisors and technical manager. Quantitative data was analyzed by using software like MS Excel, and auto CAD with the application of the balancing process and the data analysis was done and compared with the standards. Three lines are selected one line with trouser manufacturing as a sample for the study since the production was more in this product. By applying performance improvement system, bottleneck process, giving training for operators and modifying working method Sebrom Garment company improved its SMV (standard minute value) by 15.8%, daily product 19.1%, production cost by 19.4%, line efficiency by 20.66%, productivity (product per operator) by 20.6%, capacity achievement by 17.54% and performance rating 20.35 %. The findings can be extended to similar apparel industries in future. General overviews to these works are presented in this paper

<summary type="text">ASSESSMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF UPGRADED ON BUTTON HOLE AND BUTTON ATTACH MACHINE IN CASE OF DEBR BRHAN CLUSTER
Technology adaption has emerged as an important determinant of competitiveness in recent global trade. Gaining competitiveness in the mass production became a driving force for the garment firms to adapt technologies. However, the status, activities, and organizational factors that affect the level of technology adaption by garment manufacturers. The purpose of this study was the assessment and implementation of upgraded on button hole and button attach machine in case of Debre Brihan cluster. Purposive technique and a descriptive survey methodology are employed to collect data. The survey using a structured questionnaire, observation check list and oral question was prepared. The data was analyzed using the SPSS software package, version 20.0. The results revealed that firm size 6 enterprise used and 23 enterprise not used button hole and button attach machine positively influences by the technology adaption are technical skills, cost, quality and productivity have significant result on the technology adaption. The results were discussed in terms the assessment of technology adaption in buttonhole and button attaching machine in garment manufacturing. It was used mean and standard deviation to test the hypotheses using Z test result revealed a statistically significant difference between the perceptions of the four groups with, questioner mean response used of button hole and button attach machine calculated Z-values =0.54 less than the critical values =0.7123 at 0.005 percent level of significance. The null hypothesis was therefore accepted. Implementation giving training used button hole and button attach machine on dress shirt, casual pants and men jacket from the three result also the casual pants operation of sew buttonhole on top of front, sleeve placket &amp; cuff (5 pc) of according to Singapore JUKI standards SMV is =0.58 and productivity standards =104/hrs and after training SMV=0.63/min productivity (produces quantity=96/hrs so the gap minimized to standards after training.

<summary type="text">STUDY ON IMPROVING ASSEMBLEY LINE BALANCING IN APPAREL INDUSTRY: A CASE STUDY ON TELAJE GARMENT MANUFACTURING AND SALES PRIVATE LIMITED COMPANY
Apparel industry is one of the oldest and among the most global industry being primary concerned with the design and production of cloth and their supply. The central process in the apparel manufacturing is the joining together of Garment components which is known as the sewing process , which is the most labour intensive type of manufacturing process.Proper Utilization of resource in garment sewing section is more critical to enhance performance of the apparel industry with reducing production cost and minimizing wastage. For effective utilization of resource in sewing section good line balancing is important in order to increase productivity and production efficiency&#13;
This research was design to analyse and improving assembling line in case of Telaje garment manufacturing and sales private limited company.Study was first conduct observations in production floor and start work with the selection of sewing line in garment production process. Among nine lines of the factory select one on the production floor and one garment ordered product known us five pockets men‟s jeans trouser. For this study both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were employed. Both primary and secondary data source are used to detailed collected relevant data to accomplish this thesis works.&#13;
The main problems facing with Telaje garment manufacturing and sales Plc are: irregular material flows, long production lead time, bottlenecking, and low productivity. To eliminate the problems implementation of proper line balancing is mandatory,However,Telaje garment manufacturing and sales Plc do not implement proper line balance in production system due to lack of skill and nature of difficulty of line balancing when they want to change or modify the assembly line, therefore this thesis work shows that bottleneck process and consequence solution would be searched, and significantly improving productivity by 387 unit product/ day and, hence Line efficiency would increase from 29.1% to 50.04% of the line.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influence the performance of Textile &amp;Garment trainees in North Gonder ZoneTVET Colleges. Descriptive survey method was employed to conduct the research. The primary sources of data were 16 instructors, 141 level II, III and IV textile garment regular program trainees. Simple random sampling and quota sampling techniques were employed to, instructors and trainees respectively. Observation checklist and questionnaires were the main data gathering instruments while interview and document analysis were employed to Enrich the data gathered through observation checklist and questionnaires.Data were analyzed quantitatively using descriptive statistics, and qualitatively using descriptive narration. The outcome of the study shows that the academic qualification level of instructors was the required minimum standard. Educational facilities and infrastructures were not up-to-date. Moreover, the leaders and managers were not adept at creating a positive working environment. As a result, the current status of training quality in government TVET College in North Gondar was found to be not promising when evaluated from the standpoint of output, occupational standard, process indicators and benchmarks of quality of training.Finally, necessary recommendations have been given for improving the current status of training quality.
