<title>The Effect of Continuous and Interval Training On Some Selected Physical Fitness Variables among U-17 Male Football Project Players.</title>

Continuous and interval training is one of sport activities that has a positive effect on trainees in &#13;
physical fitness performance as a result of this, it acquires a wide attention locally and globally, &#13;
so it concerns with the variety of training method as a basic requirements for improvement of &#13;
physical fitness. The objectives of the study were to determine the comparative effect of &#13;
continuous and interval training on some selected physical fitness variables among u-17male &#13;
football project players. To achieve the purpose, pure experimental design was used. 24 u&#13;
17male football project players were taken by comprehensive sampling technique as a sample &#13;
study whose age was 14 – 17 years. Continuous and interval training group were assigned by &#13;
random sampling method and performed continuous and interval training respectively three &#13;
days per week for 3-month and 60second per session. Both groups undergone training program &#13;
and had taken pre and post-tests. So, all subjects participated in 5 selected physical fitness &#13;
performance tests: 12 minute run test, Illinoi agility test, 30 meter sprinting test, pull up test and &#13;
sit and reach test. The data collected from the study subjects was analyzed using SPSS version &#13;
20 software by paired sample t-test, ANOVA, and independent sample t- test of significant at &#13;
0.05 level of confidence. Continuous training groups were significantly increased on &#13;
cardiovascular endurance (MD=54.375),    &#13;
Strength (MD=4.875) , flexibility(MD=1.037), &#13;
agility(MD=-2.000 ) and speed(MD=-0.832). Interval training groups were not significantly &#13;
increased on dependent. So, the result of the study indicates that, continuous training groups &#13;
were performed better than interval training group on the level of cardiovascular endurance, &#13;
muscular strength, flexibility, agility, and speed. So I concluded that continuous training was as &#13;
effective as interval trainings for enhancement of all the selected physical fitness in twelve weeks &#13;
training programs. But additional longer-term study with follow-ups is required to confirm this.

<summary type="text">Effects of Concentrated Weekend Training Program on Physiological and Performance Indicators in Soccer Trainees

Studies prove that concentrated training programs results complicated impacts on trainees. However, this implication on young trainees' physiological adaptations and performance is crucial for optimal enhancement and injury prevention is under explored. There for, this study was aims to evaluate the physiological and performance effects of concentrated weekend training program on 11–13 years old male soccer trainees. The study was used quasi experimental design with a total of 40 male soccer trainees at Bahir Dar University Stadium. The study investigated the effects of concentrated weekend training days. Over 10 week concentrated weekend soccer training program the long term physiological adaptations also alongside evaluating the influence of extra physical activities. The data collected from the study on subject were analyzed using SPSS version 25 software by using paired sample t-tests, binary logistic regression, and Pearson correlation analyses. The result showed that statistically significant reduction in sprint speed (M=6.03s on Sunday vs. M=5.72s on Saturday, P &lt; 0.05) and CMJ height (M=2.15m on Sunday vs. M=2.24m on Saturday, P &lt; 0.05), indicative of neuromuscular fatigue from insufficient recovery. Conversely, participation in extra irregular training intensely influenced recovery, dramatically increasing the odds of positive performance outcomes (Odds Ratio OR = 4.500, P &lt; 0.05) and significantly reducing the likelihood of experiencing fatigue (OR = 0.156, p &lt; 0.05, joint pain (OR = 0.079, P &lt; 0.05), deserved sleep (OR = 0.003, P &lt; 0.05), and muscle soreness (OR = 0.030, P &lt; 0.05). throughout the experiment, significant physiological adaptations included reductions in diastolic BP (P &lt; 0.05), systolic BP (P &lt; 0.05), and a statistically significant change in VO2max (p=0.032), though RHR did not change significantly (P &gt; 0.05). This finding concluded that weekend concentrated training programs had a significant influences on recovery and physiological improvements of young soccer trainees. Therefore, coaches should integrate diverse training programs for a better physiological and performance improvement strategies in young soccer trainees and future research are encouraged on different sex and age groups

<title>Effects of Uphill Training on Bio-motor Skills, Physiological, and Biomechanical Metrics of Moderately Trained Middle-Distance Runners</title>

<summary type="text">Effects of Uphill Training on Bio-motor Skills, Physiological, and Biomechanical Metrics of Moderately Trained Middle-Distance Runners

Numerous academics and research findings have described the purpose and benefits of hill training. However, the current body of knowledge is insufficient to confidently inform the formulation of suggestions that explain which hills repeat, long-gradual, intermediate or short-steeps provide the most benefits. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of eight-week uphill training: shallow hill training (~ 2.5%), intermediate hill training (~ 5.1%), and steeper hill training (~ 7.6%) on bio-motor skills (maximal velocity, running performance, and strength endurance performance), physiological (maximal oxygen consumption, the velocity at maximal oxygen consumption, resting heart rate, and recovery heart rate), and biomechanical (step rate, step length, contact time, and flight time) of middle-distance runners. A pre-post parallel true experimental research design was employed. Forty moderately trained middle-distance runners were selected using a cencus sampling technique and randomly assigned to the three intervention groups, or control groups (n = 10 each). Over 8 weeks, participants completed gradient-specific training and outcomes were assessed. The result in two-way mixed RM-ANOVA revealed a significant main effect of time and hill gradients on bio-motor skills, physiological and biomechanical measures of middle-distance runners. The findings showed that uphill training has a significant positive effect on bio-motor skills, physiological and biomechanical measures of running performance, while the steeper uphill shows the most significant benefit compared to the lower hill gradients. Therefore, coaches and athletes should customize uphill training programs while carefully matching the strengths and weaknesses of the athlete and the demands of the event.

<summary type="text">Psychometric Validation of Psychological Instruments and the Interplay between Basic Psychological Needs, Motivation, and Perceived Sport Performance among Elite Male and Females Volleyball Players

Volleyball development in East Africa is constrained by limited infrastructure, inadequate financial support, and scarce professional opportunities, which collectively undermine athletes’ intrinsic motivation. From the perspective of Self-Determination Theory (SDT), these challenges hinder the satisfaction of basic psychological needs competence, autonomy, and relatedness thereby affecting both motivation and perceived performance. Insufficient training facilities, limited access to quality coaching, and reduced competitive exposure further weaken athletes’ self-efficacy and confidence, contributing to a cycle of underdevelopment in the sport. This study aimed to validate two key psychological instruments the Basic Needs Satisfaction in Sport Scale (BNSSS) and the Sport Motivation Scale II (SMS-II) and to examine the relationships among basic psychological needs satisfaction, sport motivation, and perceived performance among elite Ethiopian volleyball players. The validation process involved 321 athletes (174 males, 147 females) from various sports disciplines, resulting in reliable and culturally appropriate versions of both instruments. Subsequently, data were collected from 148 volleyball players (85 males, 63 females) competing in different volleyball clubs in Ethiopia. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the validity of the measurement models, while correlation and regression analyses revealed significant relationships among variables. Findings indicated that satisfaction of competence, autonomy, and relatedness was positively associated with higher levels of intrinsic motivation, which in turn significantly enhanced athletes’ perceived sport performance. These results highlight the critical role of psychologically supportive environments in fostering quality motivation and improving performance outcomes. The study provides both theoretical and practical contributions, offering valuable insights for coaches, sport psychologists, and administrators seeking to strengthen athlete development and volleyball performance in Ethiopia.
